Cow Hide Rug in the Living Room
Okay, I went outside my comfort zone a bit. Â And guess what, it totally paid off.
Now, let me back up. Â About 2 months ago, my sisters dog had a bit of a poo party all over my jute rug in my family room. Â I chose to stay in bed and avoid the whole party. Â After some serious cleaning on the part of my sister and her hubby, I decided maybe the rug should not go back in the family room.
But, what should? Â I felt like I needed something new for the space. Â Just at that time I stumbled upon a rug company, Rug Safari and let me tell you they have so many cool options.
I really wanted to go with something different. Â Something I would not have picked before. Â I found exactly what I was looking for. Â Â A cow hide rug. Â The day it showed up I set it out in my family room, and almost instantly all my kids had something to say. Â They had a theory.
“We know what you did mom”, they said. Â You took a picture of the cow. Â Then you killed it, skinned it and put its hide on the floor and put its head on the wall. Â I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time. Â Such clever little beasts they are.
So apart from my apparent obsession with cows, I really love the way this rug looks in my home. Â The uneven shape of the cow hide rug gives the room so much interest. Â The colors are really great and compliment the rest of my decor well.
Its a  great way to warm up my home for fall too.  Its always nice to change things up for the season and I think the warm tones of the cow hide rug really compliment my emerging fall decor.  I don’t have all my fall decor out yet.  Its being added gradually.
Overall, I am really pleased with this rug. Â It took about a day to flatten out from being rolled up from shipping, but it is really soft and my kids think it is the coolest rug ever.
I do think I may need to rethink my coffee table with the rug, or maybe work with some other scenarios, but I love this rug. Â I think it will look great with the rest of my fall decor, and can you imagine what it will look like with all my Christmas decorations. Â Yes, I just went there. Â I can’t help it, I am already excited about Christmas.
What do you think? Â Would you add a cow hide rug to your home?
Have a great day and remember…

Hi, Sara! This rug looks amazing! I love your style, it`s all well composed and has a warm vibe to it. I was wondering, how you get inspired? Do you have a whole look in your h+mind or you get one thing and built around it?
Thank you so much Nigel. I would say I do have a general look that I am trying to achieve throughout my home, but I also do often use one item as inspiration for the whole room, just as I did in this room with my rug. I then like to build around it, keeping that overall style in mind. Thanks for asking that!
