DIY Faux Fireplace and Mantel

When we remodeled our bedroom, I was determined to add a fireplace. A real wood burning brick fireplace was not in the budget, so let me show you the DIY faux fireplace we came up with!

Items Needed

– 1 by 12" Planks – Miter Saw – Table Saw – 1 by 1" Square Trim – Shiplap – Brad Nailer – Air Compressor – Sander – Wood Stain – Freestanding Fireplace

Cutting the pieces to size accordingly, we first built the side pieces and then the top piece. Then we drilled them together. It's solid but still looks rough.

Build the Frame

We added a mantel, added a trim underneath it, and a small trim where the top meets the bottom pieces. We then secured it to the wall and added shiplap.

Trim & Details

We painted the shiplap white so that the freestanding fireplace would stand out and stained the fireplace itself in my DIY weathered wood stain.
