Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 6 cups

Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour (white or wheat) I use white
  • 1/4 cup baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (very cold or frozen) you can also use shortening or solid coconut oil, not liquid.

Instructions

  • Collect all your ingredients. First, use a pastry cutter or use a cheese grater to grate the butter. I like to grate it because it makes it so much easier to incorporate into the flour mixture.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Using your hands or a pastry cutter to break down the butter into small pieces. You want it all to be very well blended, almost into tiny granules and not feel the butter at all, but when you press some mixture into your hands, it forms together. You wan the butter to mix into the flour without melting it.
  • Once everything is mixed together, put it in a tupperware or air tight container and put it in the fridge to store. If you use shortening or coconut oil you can leave it in the pantry but I prefer to it in the fridge or freezer.
  • Use this like you would regular Bisquick mix. The pancake recipe would call for 2 cups of homemade Bisquick mix, 2 eggs an 1 cup of milk.
  • I love to use this in my easy crustless quiche recipe and so much more.
