Well its that time of year, when we start to think about gift giving. I know we all need some new ideas, and I want to share some super cute holiday gift ideas with you. I want to show you how I made these personalized Christmas ornaments using my Cricut Maker.
Why are holiday gift ideas important?
I have always loved creating gifts for my family and friends. My love language is service I guess. I love to show my love through giving something that comes from the heart. These cute personalized Christmas ornaments are just one simple example of how you can do that. They are easy to make and look so good on the tree!
What you will need to create these personalized Christmas ornaments:
*Make sure to check out these tools, they are on sale on the Cricut website! This post contains affiliate links for your convenience*
- Cricut Maker
- Weeding tool
- Permanent Vinyl(black and white)
- 4 inch wood rounds
- white and black paint
- Transfer tape
- scraping tool
I made these personalized Christmas ornaments using precut wood rounds I got from Amazon. I used my Cricut Maker to create the designs, and them painted the rounds with white and black paint.
Cricut’s Design Space has so many amazing options for designs and I was able to find some super cute ornament outlines I decided to use for these wood slices. Its a fun variation of having those real ornaments on your tree, with all those intricate designs, but instead you get to see the gorgeous outline of one.
Once I had the designs ready to go, I used my Cricut Maker to cut the designs out of permanent vinyl. I cut each ornament out so I could work with them a bit easier. I used my weeding tool to take out all the pieces I was not using on the ornament. These did require a bit of patience because some of them had a bit more detail to them.
Once they were weeded, I used a piece of transfer tape over the top of the cut design.
I rubbed the design a couple times to make sure it was adhered to the transfer tape. Then you can pull the transfer tape off the backing and the design will come with.
Apply the design with the sticky side down on the surface you are adhering it to, for me it was my wood round ornaments.
Use your burnishing tool to rub the design into the surface to get good adhesion.
You can then pull the transfer tape away and the design will stay on the wood ornament. I like to burnish it a bit once its on there to give it a but more contact. I then used lengths of twine to hang the ornaments.
A set of 6 ornaments seemed like a great gift to give. Instead of just one, they can have a collection.
I created white with black designs and black with white designs. You can personalize one ornament to have their name and the year, so that they can remember. I was tempted to make a set that relayed more of what 2020 was like, but in the end, I wanted something that broke free from all the crazy that has been going on in the world.
I think these personalized Christmas ornaments are so dang cute, I think I will make a set for myself too!
You can create any design you want.
You can paint them any color, especially if you want to personalize them to friends or family.
I love that I was able to make these using my Cricut Maker.
My Cricut Maker gives me so many different opportunities to create and give to those around me.
What do you think? Do you like to give gifts like this for those in your life? I think it means so much more.
How cute do they look on the tree? I love them.
I hope you try making some like this, they are so very fun to make!
