Simple Spring Living Room Decor Ideas

Let’s be real.  I have taken literally the entire winter off and haven’t done anything to my home since before Christmas.  That may seem normal to some, but for me, I usually have a ton of changes happening around the house, but this year, I have simply felt….burnt out.  Up until a couple of days ago, I still had the greenery on my mantel from Christmas! Granted it still kind of had a springy look to it, but it was dead, and has lost its bright color.  So, I decided it was time to add somse spring to my living room and the greenery was the first to go! Lets talk about simple spring living room decor ideas that don’t have to be obvious but add a fresh look to your space.

I used to be much more literal when I decorated for different seasons, but these days, I want things to last.  I want the decor to stick around and not scream “Easter” or be only spring decor.  I feel the same for all the other seasons of the year.   I started by cleaning off my mantel, which hadn’t been touched since probably Thanksgiving.  As a blogger, you often decorate much earlier for each season.

I had my Christmas up for about a month more than normal.  I think I overdid it so much over the holidays that I simply did not care to do anything for the past couple dreary winter months.   But with the sun finally shining and some warmth entering our atmosphere, I was finally feeling alive!

I decided to focus my fireplace mantel decor around one of my most recent paintings, I created this painting and had a print made, which I framed out.  I love the way it looks on the mantel. It brings some color and life to the space.  The simple farmhouse in the trees is one of my favorites.  Get the same print below!

Add a couple of books and some other items with different textures and the mantel was done.

I decided to switch out my rugs as well.  I swapped out the rug that was in the dining room and I love the pop of color from this rug.  We have spent a lot of time in this space and since its still cold and will be “winterish” for the next two months, we need the warmth and coziness of throw blankets.

I recently learned how to make large chunky blankets from my sister and I am obsessed with how warm and cozy they are! Since I still want to keep things serene and neutral in my home, I decided against adding any bright pops of green but I did add another piece of artwork to the wall behind the sofa.  You can get the exact print here!

The spring decor in this space may seem really simple and lack some obvious features, but to me, the simple task of creating a fresh space screams spring to me.  We all need a fresh start and spring is just the right time for me.
