Everything You Need to Know About Sourdough and Starters

A sourdough starter comes in handy when you are unable to find yeast. This also comes in handy because sourdough breads have great health benefits and are easier to digest!

Here's what you'll need to make your sourdough starter

All Purpose Flour | Water | Jar Wooden Spoon | Towel Rubber Band | Plastic Wrap

Day One

Mix flour and water in a jar. Place a towel on the container and let it sit for 24 hours on your kitchen counter.

Day Two

At this point you might see tiny bubbles. Discard half.  Add flour and water & stir well. Cover and let sit for 24 hours in a warm place.

Day Three, Four, and Five

For these three days, you'll repeat exactly what you did in day two. Feeding it every 24 hours.

Day Six and Seven

Discard half the mixture and feed it exactly like all the other days but feed it every 12 hours instead of every 24 hours.

Now your sourdough starter is ready to make some delicious bread! The "discard" is also great for pancakes, crepes, biscuits, etc. It's so yummy and reduces waste.
